PM Modi becomes the first world leader to cross 100 million Instagram followers. This speaks volumes about his unmatched global digital reach
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become the first world leader to cross 100 million followers on Instagram, cementing his position as the most followed political leader on the platform.
The achievement is a historic first, with PM Modi reaching a level of online popularity unmatched by any other political figure globally. He joined the Meta-owned platform in 2014, and over the years, his account has evolved into one of the most engaging digital spaces among world leaders.
The scale of his dominance becomes even clearer when compared to his peers. According to the data, PM Modi now has twice as many followers as US President Donald Trump, who holds the second spot with 43.2 million followers. Meanwhile, the combined follower count of several major global leaders still falls short of PM Modi’s individual total.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has 15 million, followed by Brazilian President with 14.4 million followers, and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan follows with 11.6 million. Lastly, Argentine President Javier Milei has 6.4 million followers.
His popularity is not limited to the global stage. Within India, the gap between Modi and other political leaders is stark. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ranks a distant second with 16.1 million followers, followed by Congress’ Rahul Gandhi with around 12.6 million.
PM Narendra Modi has crossed the historic milestone of 100 million followers on Instagram, becoming the first world leader and politician to achieve this feat on the platform.

“Speaker of the Knesset Medal,” the parliament’s highest honour, for what officials described as his exceptional leadership in advancing strategic cooperation between the two nations.
The honour was presented after his address, which received a standing ovation and prolonged applause from lawmakers. Following the speech, several members of the Knesset gathered around Modi for photographs and selfies.
