Netflix and Anushka Sharma’s ‘Chakda Xpress’ may not see the lights of the day due to reasons best known to the makers. If reports are to be believed, budgetary issues and creative differences led to the film being stuck in a limbo. Sharma, who was the co-founder of her production house Clean Slate Films along with her brother Karnesh, stepped down from her responsibilities few years back.
The actress was set to essay Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami in her biopic, the second on a female cricketer after Shabaash Mithu, which chronicled the journey of Mithalji Raj, played by Taapsee Pannu. Renuka Shahane, while chatting with NDTV, spoke about Anushka’s film getting shelved and how she feels.
The actress revealed, “I am totally heartbroken. Basically, because I think everyone has put in so much effort. Anushka has also worked on herself so much for it. And whatever scenes I did were so powerful and so impactful, especially for women in sports.”
She added, “Jhulan Goswami is iconic and coming from a very poor house and making it big and yet the kind of discrepancy that still exists between men’s cricket and women’s cricket and all other sports, I would say. Chakda Xpress had that core quality of sportsmanship.”

In a conversation with News18, Dibyendu Bhattacharya shared that he is even waiting for Chakda Xpress to release. He said, “Prosit Roy said, it (film) wasn’t completely finished, not everything had been done.” He added, “But I watched it and… it is such a beautiful film.”
He added, “If I had any information about the film, I would tell you first. I really don’t know because Clean Slate is on one side and Netflix is on the other. What’s going on between the two, I have no clue.”
