Rajinikanth’s biggie & Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR starrer go neck-to-neck – Firstpost

Due to the national holiday of Independence Day, both biggies – War 2 and Coolie witnessed an upward trend and remained superstrong at the domestic box office.

While the Rajinikanth starrer earned around Rs 54 crore and stands with a total collection of Rs 119 crore, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR starrer has earned approximately Rs 57 crore and stands with a cumulative business of close to Rs 110 crore.

Both films entered the Rs 100 crore club on their second day, and looking at the current trend, Coolie and War 2 are expected to take the complete advantage of the Janmashtami holiday, followed by Sunday.

Talking about Coolie, the massy actioner also features Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Rachita Ram, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy, Kaali Venkat, and Charle in prominent roles. It is directed by Lokesh Kangaraj, known for helming films such as Vikram, Leo, Master, Kaithi, and Maanagaram.

On the other hand,
_War 2_ is directed by Ayan Mukerji of Wake Up Sid, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Brahmastra fame (all three featured Ranbir Kapoor in lead roles). It also features Kiara Advani and Ayan Mukerji in key roles. It is the sixth film in the YRF Spy Universe after Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan and Tiger 3. Since there is no release in the coming week, War 2 will enjoy a free run at the box office.
