Vivek Agnihotri shared that he didn’t mean to take a dig at anyone, but made it clear that no Indian should name their child after Taimur, a murderous invader.
Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri recently addressed the speculation of taking a jibe at Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan for naming their older son Taimur in the trailer of his upcoming movie The Bengal Files.
He shared that he didn’t mean to take a dig at anyone, but made it clear that no Indian should name their child after Taimur, a murderous invader.
When Agnihotri was asked if the Taimur reference in his new film’s trailer was a direct jibe at Saif and Kareena for keeping their son’s name Taimur. The filmmaker said on The Raunac Show, “A lot of people are named Taimur. (Saif) wasn’t the first person to name his child Taimur. Let me explain. When I went to shoot The Tashkent Files in Samarkand, I visited Taimur’s tomb. Outside it, it is written, ‘He conquered the richest sultanate in the world.’ This was the Delhi Sultanate. They were about to give him the title of Emperor, but he refused, and said that he wouldn’t accept it until he conquers Delhi.”
In memory of the victims of Direct Action Day (16th August 1946), I present to you the official trailer of #TheBengalFiles — the boldest film ever on the untold story of the Hindu genocide.

He continued, “He massacred one lakh people in one night. He went on a killing spree from Delhi to Kashmir. He raped and pillaged along the way. Yes, he is a hero in his country; he is a great man. But he isn’t to us. Of course, nobody should name their child Taimur. It shouldn’t even be a question.”
