Kangana Ranaut, the versatile actress-turned-politician, has shared her opinion on Diljit Dosanjh working with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3, which garnered severe backlash from the audience.
The film was banned in India amid India-Pakistan tensions, especially after the Pahalgam attack. In a recent interview, Kangana shared that she sees a lack of unified national sentiment and patriotism among public figures.
“I’ve said enough about these people. In the beginning of our conversation, I pointed out that we need to have a sentiment of nation-building — everybody is a stakeholder,” Kangana told Times Now.
“Why don’t we have that sentiment? Why is Diljit having his own path? Why should somebody else, cricketers, have their own path? Even a soldier has his own path of nationalism. Somebody is having this, the poor soldier is having the path of nationalism, poor politician is having the path of nationalism. Some genuinely have their own agenda,” the actress shared.
“I am not saying it is unnatural, but we must try to align everybody. We must try to align, and that will happen only when we bring this idea to these politicians; it is your work,” she added.
While talking to BBC Asian Network,
Diljit Dosanjh shared that the film, which was released on 27th June, was completed before the cross-border tensions surfaced.
“Jab yeh film bani thi tab situation sab theek tha. We shot this in Feb and then everything was fine. Uske baad, bhut saari badi cheezen humare haath mein nahi hai. Toh producers ne decide kiya ki film obviously ab India toh nahi lagegi, toh overseas release karte hain. Toh producers ka bahut paisa laga hua hai aur jab yeh film bann rahi thi tab aisa kuch tha nahi,” Diljit shared adding, “Now the situation is not in our hands. So if the producers want to release it abroad, I support them.”
Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, the movie also features Neeru Bajwa, Manav Vij, Gulshan Grover, Jasmin Bajwa, and Sapna Pabbi in key roles.
