Deepika Padukone’s controversial exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit, which features Prabhas, over a request for an eight-hour workday shift, has sparked debate about work-life balance in the entertainment industry.
While celebs from Bollywood have come out in support of Deepika Padukone, filmmaker Suneel Darshan has called the actress’ demand ‘unreal’ and shared that she is not irreplaceable.
“The producer should first take from her in writing that for the 8 hours she is on the set, she will be giving shots. Instead of 8 if she even gives shots for 4 hours, the producer will touch her feet in gratitude,” Suneel told IANS.
Calling Deepika’s demand ‘unreal’, he added, “I believe one should work only with those people who love your film more than you.”
He reminded the Fighter actress that nobody is irreplaceable and shared, “There was a time when Deepika was not a part of the industry. You will be able to find several new talents.”
As per reports,
Deepika, who recently embraced motherhood, was removed from Spirit by Sandeep Reddy Vanga due to her demands, which included eight-hour workdays, a high salary, and a share in the film’s profit. This didn’t go well with Vanga, which led to her exit from the movie. This would have been her second collaboration with Prabhas after Kalki 2898 AD.
Talking to Firstpost,
Vikrant Massey spoke about Deepika Padukone’s eight-hour shift demand and shared, “I want to go out and say, we can collaborate, but I would only work for eight hours. But at the same time, it should be a choice. And if my producer cannot accommodate that because there are also a lot of other things involved. Money plays a very important role and I will have to reduce my fees as I will be working for eight hours.”
“If I cannot give my producer twelve hours a day, I cannot go out there and not reduce my fee. I ought to reduce my fee. It’s a give and take. Right? So, yes, I think it definitely works. And as a young mother, I think Deepika truly deserves it!” he added.
