‘A mid first half followed by…’ – Firstpost

Despite garnering mixed-to-negative reviews and severe hatred on social media, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR starrer War 2 continues to shatter records at the box office. In fact, it has become the 7th film to enter the Rs 100 crore club on its 2nd day at the domestic box office after Pushpa 2 (Hindi), Stree 2, KGF 2 (Hindi), Jawan, Pathaan & Tiger 3.

However, the assistant director of Pathaan, Rajvir Ashar has slammed the film in his Instagram story.

Rajvir Ashar penned, “This one was just a heartbreaking experience for me. I was rooting for this film and all it did was upset me to no degree! A mid first half is followed by a deplorable and overlong second.”

He added, “Neither did it have enough highs nor was it successful in resonating with me emotionally! The most ‘anticipated’ day turned out to be a ‘colossal’ disappointment. Weakest film of the universe!”

The film is expected to enter the Rs 200 crore club by end of its first extended at the ticket windows. Since no biggies are arriving in the next week, War 2 will enjoy a free run at the box office.

However, it would be important for War 2 to stay strong on weekdays to keep up the momentum.

War 2 is directed by Ayan Mukerji of Wake Up Sid, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Brahmastra fame (all three featured Ranbir Kapoor in lead roles). It also features Kiara Advani and Ayan Mukerji in key roles. It is the sixth film in the YRF Spy Universe after Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan and Tiger 3.
