Ahaan Panday-Aneet Padda starrer beats War, Dunki & Tiger 3, set to enter Rs 500 crore cl – Firstpost

Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda starrer Saiyaara has not only turned out to be a monstrous box office blockbuster but also a global phenomenon. While the film has entered the coveted club of Rs 300 crore in India, it is set to enter the Rs 500 crore club globally.

_Saiyaara_ currently stands with a worldwide gross total of Rs 486 crore and has surpassed biggies like War (Rs 475.62 crore), Dunki (Rs 470.6 crore) and Tiger 3 (Rs 466.63 crore). The film will become the 16th Bollywood film to cross the Rs 500 crore benchmark globally after Dangal (Rs 1968.03 crore), Jawan (Rs 1148.32 crore), Pathaan (Rs 1050.3 crore), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 918.18 crore), Animal (Rs 917.82 crore), Secret Superstar (Rs 875.78 crore), Stree 2 (Rs 874.58 crore), Chhaava (Rs 797.34 crore), PK (Rs 769.89 crore), Gadar 2 (Rs 691.08 crore), Sultan (Rs 614.49 crore), Sanju (Rs 586.85 crore), Padmaavat (Rs 571.98 crore), Tiger Zinda Hai (Rs 564.2 crore) and Dhoom 3 (Rs 556.84 crore)

While Saiyaara will continue its steady run at the box office until the arrival of Coolie and War 2, the musical romantic drama is now getting dominated by director Ashwin Kumar’s animated venture

Despite not going all out with the promotions, Saiyaara garnered unprecedented excitement among the cinegoers. Before the release of the movie, director Mohit Suri spoke about it and told Firstpost, “I’ve been inside the studio for the last one month. I have no idea. And unlike the past when people travel from one studio to another, this is everything inhouse at YRF. So I haven’t really gone out and met the world outside. Normally, when you are working on other films, you go out for the day; for sound, edit, and VFX. It was different different places.

And just hearing it now, it does feel it does feel very redeeming and validating because when I started off this film, I was quite discouraged by a lot of senior people saying that nobody would be interested in a young love story. Because at that time, larger-than-life films were being made and I just thought that my voice would be lost there when everyone was shouting. So I just went and tried to make a film which is very different from what others were doing. And to me, the fact that people are appreciating that the difference that it’s standing out means a lot.”
