The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday announced the schedule of the election for the Vice President.
In a press release, the ECI said that following the formal notification on August 7, nominations could be filed till Aug. 21 and voting shall take place on Sept. 9 and the counting of votes will take place on the same day.
The fresh election of the Vice President was necessitated by the abrupt resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar last month.
