Mrunal Thakur has broken her silence on the dating rumours with actor-filmmaker Dhanush after the duo was spotted multiple times together, which sparked the conversation of them being in a romantic relationship in Kollywood and Bollywood circles.

However, the Son of Sardaar 2 actress clarified and shared that the actor is ‘just a good friend’ to her. “I’m aware that a lot of news has been circulating about the two of us being linked together recently. I just found it funny when I saw it,” Mrunal said in an interview cited by Only Kollywood, adding, “Dhanush is just a good friend to me.”

“Dhanush attended the Son of Sardaar 2 event. No one should misunderstand that. It was Ajay Devgn who invited him,” Mrunal explained.

Talking about Dhanush, he was previously married to Rajinikanth’s daughter Aishwarya, and the couple divorced in 2024 after 20 years of marriage.

The duo had announced their divorce, which left fans shocked and upset. But the former couple has reunited for their son Yathra’s school graduation.

The actor shared pictures and wrote- ‘PROUD PARENTS.’

The couple announced separation over two years ago.

Back in 2022, the Atrangi Re actor shared a note on X that read- ‘The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate. Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better.’

Dhanush and Aishwaryaa, daughter of megastar Rajinikanth, tied the knot in 2004 and are parents to two sons, Yatra and Linga, who were born in 2006 and 2010, respectively.

Dhanush and Aishwaryaa shared a note announcing their separation on their respective social media accounts.

Aishwaryaa shared the same note on Instagram and captioned it: “No caption needed only your understanding n your love necessary!”

Aishwaryaa has directed films like the Tamil romantic thriller 3 and black comedy Vai Raja Vai.
