Singer Sonu Nigam has got major relief from Bombay High Court as a restraining order has been passed against a criminal lawyer of the same name who was impersonating him.
One of the tweets of the lawyer in question read- “Don’t dub Kannada movies in Hindi! Don’t release Kannada movies pan-India! Do you have the guts to say this to Kannada film stars, Mr. @TejasviSurya or are you just another language warrior?”
The singer’s lawyer argued that due to the hateful tweets of the criminal lawyer in question, it was his client that was getting a lot of hate messages on social media.
“Because of Sonu Nigam Singh replying to the posts… Look at the hate Sonu Nigam is getting. Absolute chaos, My Lord. This is what the plaintiff is facing every day,” he told the court.
Recently, Sonu Nigam was performing on stage at his Bengaluru concert recently when few fans asked him to sing a song in Kannada but nobody was prepared for what was going to happen next.
The moment the fan asked Nigam to sing a Kannada song, he replied “This is the reason for what happened in Pahalgam.” The singer has now landed in major trouble. He has faced a ban from Kannada films and a FIR has been registered too. Nigam has now shared his side of the story.
In a statement, Sonu said, “While I was singing my first song, there was a bunch of four-to-five students who were not demanding, but actually threateningly asking me to sing in Kannada. There were many people in the audience who tried to stop them and asked them to not cause disturbance.”
