Police in South Kashmir’s Pulwama on Thursday said that they have secured a conviction in FIR No. 289/2020 in a terror-related case. According to the information obtained by CNN-News18, the conviction took place after the accused confessed his involvement before the court.
As per the report, the confession came via video conferencing, marking a major boost in the fight against terrorism. The case in question was registered back in 2020 under the ULA(P) Act, Section 307 IPC and Sections 7/27 Arms Act.

The accused has been identified as Zamir Sadiq Lone, son of Mohd Sadiq Lone, resident of Tiken Batpora. He was arrested by the Pulwama police in 2021. It is pertinent to note that the case also involved three other accused terrorists, who were eliminated earlier in security operations.
As per the report, the investigation was initially conducted by DySP Mohd Shafi, and later further investigated and challaned by DySP Showkat Rafiq. The case eventually came before the NIA court, and the formal charges were framed against the accused in 2025.
Upon conclusion of the trial, the Hon’ble Court sentenced the convicted accused to 04 years and 04 months of imprisonment, along with a fine of ₹10,000.
