Union Budget 2026: 1 girls’ hotel in every district, Sitharaman unveils new education townships

In the
Union Budget 2026, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the government plans to build girls’ hostels in every district across the country. On Sunday, Sitharaman presented her ninth consecutive budget to the parliament. The finance minister emphasised that this year’s budget is monumental since it is the first one formulated in
Kartavya Bhawan.

While elucidating the government’s ambition of ‘
Viksit Bharat’, Sitharaman announced major education initiatives, including plans to establish a girls’ hostel in every district. She also announced the setting up of the National Institute of Hospitality and the development of five new university townships across the country.
